only is Jill Gioia (Joy-a) an extraordinarily gifted singer and
songwriter, she is also a wife and proud mother of two boys, Carmine
Gabriel and Simon Luke. Dedicated to her love of family and music, she
manages to juggle it all.
At the early age of seven, Jill’s career began appearing in dozens of
national television commercials and print ads. Singing being her first
love, she went on to compete as a semi finalist in Ed McMahon’s “Star
Jill was the winner of the first Steve Madden “Rock n’ Sole Band Search”
contest resulting in the “Jill Joy Boot”, a sexy platform high heeled
boot inspired and named after her. There are miles more to Jill than a
pair of extra-cool boots. The gritty, pretty, super soulful rock singer
from New York brings a biting edge to music that makes people sit up,
take notice and leave with a smile on their face.
was the female lead singer for the “West Coast” touring company of the
multi-platinum and top ten highest grossing tours Trans-Siberian
Orchestra. Competing for the front man/woman slot in a new star-studded
band, Jill was in Tommy Lee’s (Motley Crue) top 10 on CBS’s hit reality
T.V. show “Rockstar Supernova.”
Jill performed as back up and opening work for illustrious artists
ranging from Kelly Clarkson to Dee Snider to 98 Degrees to Enya, and on
major television shows like “The Late Show with David Letterman,” where
she performed with the band Third Eye Blind. “Breaking For The Holidays”
a holiday album, features Jill among many artist including Chaka Khan
and Sandra Bernhard.
Gioia also executed some skillful, memorable belt-outs of one of the
hardest songs to sing--The National Anthem—for numerous playoff, and
season games for the N.Y Knicks, Rangers, Liberty and NCAA more than
once. Her voice filled Madison Square Garden singing the complicated,
patriotic ode, and received smashing aplomb.
Taking her even further, Jill’s song “Don’t Make Me Wait,” went gold in
Spain. She has donated her time and voice to various groups such as
“Musicians on Call” (Sloan Kettering) as well as “Friends for Life” a CD
for the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer foundation. Jill Gioia’s impressive
credits include two albums (“He’s My Bitch” and “Got Some Issues”),
numerous radio and TV appearances (Reality Remix, Fox 5’s Good Day NY
News 12 Long Island; she has appeared on 95.5 FM “The Scott and Todd
Show”, 102.7 FM WNEW’s “Ron & Fez” show; her song “He’s My Bitch” has
been in regular rotation on WNEW, Q104.3, and featured on MTV’s “The
Real World” and NBC’s “Passions”). Jill was featured on the cover of
Flatiron Magazine, in Newsday, Glamour, Billboard, The Daily News, New
York Times, New York Post, and Long Island Press.
Jill is the voice on numerous TV and radio commercials. They include
Ford’s “Bold Moves”, Gillette Venus, La-Z-Boy, Aleve-D and Simon Malls.
is currently working on a new up and coming Broadway Show as well as
singing with her own band, performing at theaters, performing arts
centers, corporate events, and private parties. She recently sang for
St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital in N.Y. for the groundbreaking ceremony
of their new medical facility!
But her successes have not kept Jill from remembering her roots, as the
immensely likable woman remains steadfastly down to earth and quick to
smile. And living in the nifty situation of being married to a musician
whom she performs and tours the country with, Jill has plenty reason to
